Color! |

Here's a topic for images displaying color as the predominant focus. Images may contain a single color, or any combination of colors. However, color -- as opposed to form -- should be what initially 'grabs' the viewer. That said, extra kudos will be given for unique or creative subject matter ;-)

Cool pics! Saw a good color shot from bus today - an artificially lit billboard in foreground that said "use your color imagination" and late day sunlit buildings in background - but wasn't in right place at right time. See you on the other side - New Cafe.

It's the Carlsbad flower fields, where they grow ranunculus. They let them flower and then pick out all the mismatches so when they sell bulbs that are supposed to be yellow, they'll be yellow. It's a fun place to visit when they're all in bloom - it's quite dazzling.

Lovely, Rich! The purple haze in your surburban night shots, always lingering in background, gives the compositions a David Lynch nightmare-always-lurking quality that contrasts nicely with the serenity of the quiet neighborhoods. Met a couple photographer friends in town yesterday - Norwegian, Dag Alveng, and American, Jim Bengston. Check out their work. www.alveng.com www.museumsnett.no/fotografimuseum/main_bengston_galleri.html

Enjoyed Dag's summer light series. Not thrilled with the New York work--I just can't get into the double exposures. Not my style.
Jim has a great eye. My favorite of his was Meat, 2001--looks like
beef arranged as jewelry in a storefront. I wish his gallery was
easier to navigate. I got tired quickly of having to go back and
forth. Also wondering why in the heck the pictures are in GIF
format--Ground Zero would be a great photo except
for the GIF banding in the sky.

They've both been around awhile. Dag's 52, my year, and a Norwegian photography pioneer who co-founded first photography gallery in Norway - Fotogalleriet - back in 1970s. Jim has lived in Norway since 1970. He did some early ECM record covers. I'm more partial to Dag's NY work. Love "messages from heaven" and "cones." I like summer-light series, but subconsciously take images of summertime Norway for granted.

I rarely wear this kind of girly stuff, but my boyfriend gave it to me. Turquoise is his favorite color. He was out of town on a business trip this past Valentines Day, so I sent him this picture to show him what he was missing out on. I know, I know. That was mean of me ;-)

In stark contrast, here's one of many oddball apartment buildings in Etterstad area of Oslo, painted in this strange institutional green.
