Night Shots

{Photography.94.401}: Jonathan {jonathan68} Mon, 23 Jan 2012 16:39:43 EST (4 lines)

It's been a while since I posted a photo and I seem to have forgotten
how to reduce it to a more friendly size.

Help anyone?

{Photography.94.402}: annie {oceanannie} Mon, 23 Jan 2012 17:17:32 EST (10 lines)

I do one of two things - one, I put my photo in flickr, then choose
the size for copying in here - and make sure to choose the HTML button
above. (or I put it in photobucket, sometimes)

two, I just click on the browse button to bring it in - motet reduces
it automatically. However, the result is usually awfully fuzzy.

I'm sure Coyote or another poster will be able to help you further.

That's a fascinating picture.

Where was that taken?

What I see when I come into the living room - no flash, makes the room so warm

Light from a flash is very harsh light...makes most things look stark
and cold.

That was with an image-stabilized camera? Look how the ceiling texture shows up.

That statue on the bookcase: I think she's trying to pat her head and rub her belly at the same time.

My camera has a ((--)) thingy that helps stabilize, but this time I
was just lucky because usually in low light I blur everything. My
lady is peering out under the hand shading her eyes, and holding up
her skirt which is full of flowers she's picked. My darling uncle saw
her in a shop in London town in the 40's and carried her on the plane
wrapped in a blanket. She hasn't a blemish after all that travelling,
being stored for a couple of years, and moved around many times since.
I think the date on the base is 1892 or maybe '99, but I haven't had
her down since she went up there in 2004. (The draught seems to carry
the dust away from that corner, too, which is nice, but I should take
everything down and clean it, I suppose.)

Ooo... I love the statue! You have such a lovely, cozy looking home,
Annie :-)

Wish you could visit, Coyote! It's cluttered, but I figure why put
away things you like - keep 'em on the shelves and enjoy. So they get
a bit dusty, who cares!

{Photography.94.410}: Coyote {coyote} Sat, 04 Feb 2012 21:34:09 EST (1 line)

My sentiments exactly!

That's a good one (too). I liked the composition and the colours. Would
it be even better turned 1.5˚ to the right?

--------

{Photography.94.413}: Helge Gundersen {helgegu} Sat, 23 Jun 2012 04:02:17 EDT (1 line)

I meant "degrees"...

--------

{Photography.94.414}: annie {oceanannie} Sat, 23 Jun 2012 11:14:12 EDT (HTML)

Well, let's see what happens! to the right 1.5 degrees and cropped as necessary

Photobucket

You are quite right - however the building on the left irritates me because it is looming to the right a little - not noticeable if I cropped it to the balconies, but I want the weight on the left to balance that on the right. I have limited facilities on my camera so find it difficult to get that mild fishbowl effect corrected (when I use my automatic fishbowl correction it's far far too much).

{Photography.94.415}: Coyote {coyote} Sat, 23 Jun 2012 12:58:20 EDT (2 lines)

It's an intriguing image. To me, it appears to be a drawing/painting
made with charcoal and watercolors.

--------

{Photography.94.416}: Helge Gundersen {helgegu} Sat, 23 Jun 2012 13:36:00 EDT (1 line)

The building: Would it help some if you cropped a little of it?

--------

{Photography.94.417}: annie {oceanannie} Sat, 23 Jun 2012 19:13:04 EDT (HTML)

Enough my dear! I haven't the inclination for more fiddling! If it were for somewhere there was a judge and jury and a prize at the end, I'd not even have entered it - I'd have been using a tripod in the first place.

{Photography.94.418}: Donald Dozier {donaldpd} Sun, 24 Jun 2012 08:56:45 EDT (1 line)

Both versions look good to me.

--------

{Photography.94.419}: Tom Coleman {tomcoleman} Tue, 26 Jun 2012 11:22:09 EDT (HTML)

I agree. I guess I feel less like someone trying to be an artist behind my photos, or a competitor, than a chronicler.

--------

{Photography.94.420}: Tom Coleman {tomcoleman} Tue, 26 Jun 2012 11:23:28 EDT (HTML)

I'd be thrilled if I got formal acknowledgement for my work, and admit envy of the great photographers, however..so maybe I'm copping out on myself. It's an internal debate I have..

--------

{Photography.94.421}: Donald Dozier {donaldpd} Tue, 26 Jun 2012 11:48:31 EDT (4 lines)

I talk to myself, too Tom. I got scared recently when I received an
email from me. Then I found out my email had been corrupted and I
was sending the same message to several others. So beware of
writing to yourself.

INternal, folks. But that's fine if you cope some other way...
