It's just looking down from my eighth floor window. We had had the
first little blizzard, and it left a white skiff everywhere. That's
the parking lot, and only a few cars had travelled the route. It was
gone a short while later. That was the best view, out the other window
the big waste trucks were present, and by the time they'd left, there
was nothing left to see but damp pavement.

I don't what the "statue" (by the Thames) is holding. Something with a
maritime connection, perhaps. Looks like a stick with a flag (pennant)
or small sail attached to it. There are some ropes there, and it looks
like he's sitting on something resembling a ship.
