Our Saturday farmers' market and art walk has performers come to entertain occasionally. They used to pay them, but this year it's on a voluntary basis only. They can pass the hat, sell CDs, or just sing and dance, but they no longer get paid so we don't have them as often. These are two members of a bluegrass group from Mesa, AZ that sang some oldies last Saturday. They're know as Paydirt.

From bluegrass to palm leaves, this is a young member of a Hawaiian dance troupe that performs for us. The leader is actually Filipino, but I guess she thought no one would notice...

The business card I have shows two women and this guy and lists a
Dennis Lease on the back, as well as Chris Reid. Chris could be a man
or a woman, but I'm guessing that this is Dennis.

Harold Sutton was a little ahead of me in school. He did real well and went back to the home place of his ancestry, bought up quite a few parcels and some interesting things have begun in that sleepy little burg.

Note the little white sign on the Gulf station behind the pump. Both their boys got killed in a car wreck a few years ago, then Beverly died about three years ago. Harold's still going.

This is a photo of Amanda and Veronica. It was taken in August, 2009,
at Old Town Ramble and Ride, an arts and crafts festival in
Yellowknife.

Veronica, on the right, is a very impressive guitarist and rocker
with her own band, The Johnnys. She's originally from Fort Smith, NWT,
but now she and her band are working out of the Big Smoke, a.k.a.
Hogtown, a.k.a. Toronto. I feel very privileged to have been asked to
be a sideman for her at one of her solo gigs. Amanda, on the left, is
a respected singer-songwriter and folkie from Yellowknife. I feel very
privileged to have worked with her on more than one occasion as well.

The reason I post this here is to commemorate Amanda. She passed away
yesterday of cancer.
