A pro photographer friend has warned me about the use of zoom lenses
designed for film when attached to cameras with a chip.

According to him, the thickness of film is mostly immaterial
regarding the path of light (even with layered film like Kodachrome).
But the sensor chips in digital devices require that the light arrives
in parallel "rays". This isn't always the case with film zoom lenses.

FWIW. I hope someone here knows a lot more than I do about this.
