Thank you for that, Amy, as it was a great post.

My favorite example is the war on Vietnam.  We did incredible harm to
a nation that wanted only to be independent and in the process lost
tens of thousands of Americans, wrecked our economy, and tore our
nation apart politically.

We lost.  Vietnam was united under a Communist government and it
didn't affect U.S. interests in the slightest.  We killed, died and
destroyed for nothing, just as we are doing in Iraq today.
