You have no idea about timing!

The Acura booth was across the aisle from Ford's booth. Ford does its
reveals in the attached Joe Louis Arena and then slowly drives the
cars along the aisles for display in the booth.

Everyone was assembled at the Acura booth. I was at the very back,
right at the aisle. Suddenly we all heard something behind us. We all
turned and the GT was making its way to Ford's booth behind us.

At that EXACT SECOND the Acura presentation started, with a voice
saying, "Is that the new Acura NSX?"

Well, half the audience was turned around looking at the GT. We all
honestly thought it was part of the presentation, but it was just
absolutely perfect timing.

profit:loss, though.  Losing face at an auto show (over a tiny, niche

I read an article online about the GT and got a chuckle seeing its 600 HP engine referred to as an "EcoBoost". But, even though it'll do 0-60 in 3 seconds and top out over 200 MPH, if driven like a grandma going to church, it probably will return pretty good fuel economy.

The burning question on my mind, though, is what the new aluminum bodied F-150s will get in real world fuel economy.

And, finally, in a few minutes the dealer shuttle car is going to pick me up so I can take delivery of my new 2015 AWD Escape with 1.6L engine, in that metallic blue with black interior. This will be my fifth blue automobile.

I think there's an error in calling the GT's engine an EcoBoost, even
if that is the company's name for it. "Twin turbo V6" sounds
sinister. "EcoBoost V6" sounds like a Fusion.

I'm writing a story on the aluminum F-150 even as we speak. Canadian
figures (which now use the five-cycle test similar to the U.S.) are
coming in about 1.0 L/100 km lower than the estimated five-cycle 2014
numbers.

Like any turbo, the EcoBoost is fine if your foot is light. I'm a
judge in the Canadian Truck King Challenge, where we use data
recorders as we're driving empty, hauling, and towing. Fuel economy
goes out the window with a load in anything.

On the other hand, a lot of people could do much better if they'd
drop their tunnel vision. The freelancers think they can only write
about cars, for one publication. I write for as many as I can, and I
write about anything I can sell. If I go on a press junket, I sell a
travel piece on the place I went, for example. I'm always busy,
because I branch out.

So far, the Ford Escape is awesome. I keep the touchscreen on the home page, where it shows info in four quadrants. The only thing I use the touchscreen for while driving are the satellite radio presets, in the lower left quadrant.

It's my intention to not really stomp on the gas until the odo hits 1000 miles, but today, there was someone driving 50 in a 55 zone, and I punched it. It's funny, in all my decades of driving, I somehow managed to never once drive a turbocharged car. Well, I am here to tell you that turbo lag is truly a real phenomenon. I mashed the pedal to the floor, and for a few seconds, it was like Scotty was down in engineering, passed out drunk. And then, Whoosh!, the car came to life. In my sports car days, I would not have wanted to deal with an engine that behaved like that, but as seldom as I imagine myself needing the turbo boost, I don't see it as being an issue for me. I'll just have to get used to it.

Totally! I just thought they would take the less expensive route of
FWD to keep the sticker price down. But, with AWD, it's much more
likely to get cross-shopped with the WRX, right? It might even get
some WRX shoppers who are unhappy that Subaru no longer offer a
hatchback version of the WRX.
