In the Tetons, color and temperature in the fall are matters of elevation.

This is in a park north of Tucson called Tohono Chul Park. It is part botanical garden, part nature preserve and part art gallery. This in one courtyard area:

What an interesting structure. I'm wondering if there's a story behind
its design. I love the tree in the middle.

TJ, I was at Tohono Chul last March. Really interesting area. We had
lunch in the restaurant after a hike around and a long wait to get in to
eat, but it was a great day, warm but not hot. Your photo is just like
being there, thanks!

We didn't eat there but there is a butterfly garden behind the
restaurant, and we walked through to take a look. There were no
butterflies. We thought that maybe, due to the hour, they were out to
lunch...

Wow! Raptors are so gorgeous and fascinating. I've always wondered why
so many of them have bright yellow feet.

These Harris Hawks are the only raptors that hunt collectively in a family group; each has been assigned a specific role in herding and corralling a meal. It’s part of nature’s food chain.

They can land on top of a tall saguaro cactus for observation of the landscape:

Wow! Great pix and interesting info. But I've always wondered if the
pokey things atop a cactus are less pokey than the rest.

not in the small ones you get at the shops! Maybe their feeties don't
let the spines enter...you know what chicken feet are like, and maybe
the big birds have even tougher skins.
