It's all about the light!

Thank you. I heard about two that would be nearby not too long ago
and tried and failed to get good shots. Couldn't hold the 200mm
steady enough. I forget which ones they were.

I should have known, but forgot.

The other very bright one was Jupiter, iirc.

Yep; if it doesn't flicker or blink like a star, it probably is a
planet.

Or an aeroplane coming in to the airport in a direct line with one's
sight. I can remember years and years ago wondering about that bright
star that wasn't there the night before - wondering why it was seeming
to get bigger - why it suddenly disappeared (onto the landing field
about half a mile over). Now I see those all the time in the north
northwest when the planes come in to land at night at Pearson
International - but occasionally it still surprises me for a moment.

That's lovely!

And it reminds me a little of that Escher picture of fish in the water turning into birds in the air.

Outstanding.

Annie, I keep a *Wallpaper* file on the C:-drive, and shift from time
to time. Yours here is next in line. I live on a lake, too, and wish
I had caught what you did in your surf.

So glad you all like it. I have huge desktop-picture files, 35 of
them, and this pic is often the choice of the moment. Very cheering,
somehow, and peaceful. It was a peaceful place.

Annie, I saw Lake Ontario only once, in late 1941. In what's for me
an irony, I've seen Superior several times, but early in that same
year.

The lake I live on now is much much smaller, but the wallpaper is
peaceful at dawn. Here it is again; can't recall where I put it up
before. There are few weeds hardy enough to handle the winds on
Ontario, I'd bet.

Sunset and sunrise are sometimes the hardest to capture, there's so
much contrast going on, and the colors dont always come through in
the gee whiz way you hope...but these do not disappoint. Really
really, nice stuff

Right now we either have a clear sky at sundown or total cloud. I thought maybe last night might have had something interesting - big thunder clouds rimmed with brilliant light, but they appeared and disappeared before I could even turn around.

Clouds over the city! Cool, annie!

I like how the light hits the Marilyn Monroe ...

{Photography.16.1076}: annie {oceanannie} Mon, 22 Apr 2013 15:30:58 EDT (HTML)

I kind of liked the lit up powerlines at the right! Look like spider webs. It was a pretty strange kind of light for a few minutes.

very nice, Annie

Y'all are so cheering! Thanks.

Actually, that might be the first time I have seen power lines
actually add interest to a landscape (or cityscape, if you prefer.)

Not much of a photo, Annie, but here's your neighborhood from the
plane yesterday morning!

--------

{Photography.16.1083}: annie {oceanannie} Fri, 26 Apr 2013 20:50:27 EDT (HTML)

Ha, I see the Marilyn Monroe buildings! Fun.
