Decline of the American Empire

And once again, you prove my point.

just trying to rise to your intellectual level.

<<< Hitler was a socialist. >>>

Only if you define the term differently than do 99% of the rest of the people in the world can you reasonably make this claim.

a) 99% of self identified socialists have always had great respect for the writings and ideas of Karl Marx. Hitler was not one of them. Would you dispute that particular claim, Liz?

b) 99% of today's self-identified socialists, in America, are completely in favor of democracy. Hitler opposed democracy.

Only if a person denies the validity of both a) and b) can one begin to claim that Hitler was a socialist.

In the foregoing explanation, what particular parts do you explicitly disagree with, Liz, and why?

{Politics.369.838}: Elizabeth Costello {lizcostello} Thu, 02 Jan 2014 14:53:15 EST (3 lines)

Hitler was a socialist Richard. Like all socialists he wanted to
redistribute wealth from the top down, just like you. He used any
means possible, just like Obama. What part of that don't you understand?

--------

{Politics.369.839}: Tonu Aun {tonu} Thu, 02 Jan 2014 15:40:59 EST (HTML)

Liz:Hitler was a socialist {838} Here we go once again with Liz and her flashy pom-poms without any understanding of the rules of the game. Truly ignorant past anyone's understanding. I suppose it is too difficult to find a single reputable historian, economist, or political scientist that will back her claim ..... doesn't matter in her mind.

Too bad you are either unable or unwilling to answer the question I posed in post:837, Liz, for if you did answer, it might v. well lead to an interesting and educational discussion. But of course such a discussion has nothing to do with what your purpose is here, that being to simply, robotically, and repeatedly launch the same old rightwing, sound-bite talking points.

Completely factless post Tonu - because you know I am right. Rule #1.

Your blindness is stunning, Liz.

--------

{Politics.369.844}: Excerpt from Glen's link {cardo} Fri, 03 Jan 2014 12:13:42 EST (HTML)

Here's what Hitler actually said in 1933:

“The government will not protect the economic interests of the German people by the circuitous method of an economic bureaucracy to be organised by the state, but rather by the utmost furtherance of private initiative and by the recognition of the rights of property,” Hitler told the Reichstag in 1933.

Do these sound like the words of a socialist to you? Please answer the question instead of dodging it.

{Politics.369.845}: Elizabeth Costello {lizcostello} Fri, 03 Jan 2014 12:44:08 EST (4 lines)

Yeah and Obama said: "If you like your insurance you can keep your
insurance." So what's your point.

Look at what Hitler did not what he said, and get back to me.

--------

{Politics.369.846}: Richard Clark {cardo} Fri, 03 Jan 2014 17:04:22 EST (HTML)

What did he do that contradicted what he said in the previous quote?

--------

{Politics.369.847}: Elizabeth Costello {lizcostello} Fri, 03 Jan 2014 20:00:55 EST (3 lines)

My gawd Richard, do you know nothing about what you spout? Do some
homework and then come back and tell me about how Hitler was more
honest than Obama.

--------

{Politics.369.848}: Richard Clark {cardo} Fri, 03 Jan 2014 20:11:43 EST (HTML)

Yet another bullshit evasion on your part. Kindly answer my question.

--------

{Politics.369.849}: Elizabeth Costello {lizcostello} Sat, 04 Jan 2014 12:40:14 EST (5 lines)

Not the least bit of an evasion. Are you saying Hitler was honest
about that remark? That it wasn't a way to get the LIV's on his side?

And how does that differ from Obama saying "if you like your health
insurance you can keep your health insurance"?

--------

{Politics.369.850}: Richard Clark {cardo} Sat, 04 Jan 2014 13:34:05 EST (HTML)

If Hitler was secretly a socialist, he sure managed to fool lots of American CEOs and financial experts, who bought nearly a billion dollars worth of bonds and stocks from the banks and corporations of Hitler's Germany. Needless to say, these investors expected to make money . . off of their investment in German C A P I T A L I S M.

--------

{Politics.369.851}: Elizabeth Costello {lizcostello} Sat, 04 Jan 2014 16:01:49 EST (2 lines)

He wasn't "secretly socialist" Richard, he was overtly socialist.
Just like Obama. And you love the guy - or at least did.

--------

{Politics.369.852}: Richard Clark {cardo} Sat, 04 Jan 2014 16:08:57 EST (HTML)

You belong in a psychiatric hospital. Obie is no socialist either. Wall Street loves the guy. They got filthy rich(er) last year -- under a 'socialist'? Obie is lobbying hard for the TPP, which will screw the American working man further into the ground, so as to help big international corporations get rich(er) at the working man's expense. Try to keep up with the facts, Liz.

--------

{Politics.369.853}: Elizabeth Costello {lizcostello} Sat, 04 Jan 2014 17:03:42 EST (1 line)

You just proved my point. Thank you.

--------

{Politics.369.854}: Richard Clark {cardo} Sat, 04 Jan 2014 18:58:13 EST (1 line)

How did I prove your point?

--------

{Politics.369.855}: Elizabeth Costello {lizcostello} Sat, 04 Jan 2014 21:34:10 EST (1 line)

Gawd Richard, do you even read what you write?

--------

{Politics.369.856}: Richard Clark {cardo} Sat, 04 Jan 2014 22:22:03 EST (HTML)

In other words you have no good answer. No surprise there. It must be very boring to have to bluff so much. Do you actually do all this without getting paid for it?!
