Rural Life |
{Photography.27.1}: Kai Hagen {kai} Sat, 09 Aug 2003 23:33:31 CDT (HTML)
Plenty of rural images don't fit either the "Urban Life and Cityscapes" or "The Natural
Landscape " topics - farms, barns, cows, pastures, small villages, roadside stands,
orchards, and a lot more.

That's a classic, Kai. Brings back memories for me.

Small clarification: When she says "web page," she means any web server (doesn't have to be on a page, as it were. Just an image file on the web.
but, in any case...no problem...just g

I don't have that. Will we be able to post directly soon? It's a bit cumbersome to have to go through someone.

Does your ISP give you some storage space? I'm beginning to think that the MSN one won't post pictures, only the whole page, which would be a bummer.

Most ISP's give you some free storage space, Frank, and will give you the info you need to upload images to it. Then you just use an HTML tag to creat a link to your server where the image is stored. It's really very easy - learning curve of about 5 minutes, even if you don't know HTML.

On the subject of rural life...I've been taking a lot of farm pictures near home this year. Here is one of my favorites, so far...

That's a beaut, Kai. No billboards...neon....road signs....litter.....just the good stuff. Perfectly proportioned, too, vertically and horizontally. All in thirds.
{Photography.27.14}: Which Hazel? {hazel2} Mon, 11 Aug 2003 11:26:29 CDT (3 lines)
Yep, not a fence in sight. I love it. (It's almost impossible to take pics like this in California unless you tresspass.) I really like that the fog blurs the horizon line.

Love the shot, Kai. Back to technicals: My ISP has a photo space, but it isn't a public space. I have to specify who can look. Does that matter?
{Photography.27.16}: Judy Johnson {judy} Mon, 11 Aug 2003 13:40:18 CDT (1 line)
Beautiful, Kai. Takes me right to daydreamland....
{Photography.27.17}: Cleophus {cleophus} Mon, 11 Aug 2003 16:04:21 CDT (2 lines)
And the way the fog diffuses the light over the whole photo. Awesome, Kai!

You probably saw the very same farm, Tom. This one is along Highway 15, north of Frederick. Actually, it is the very next farm up the road from the one above.

Many days we drive from clear and sunny down into morning fog in the valley...or from fogbound to clear visibility driving the same stretch.
Here are two nice pictures from Frank
Frank: "The sheep is from the Connemara region of County Galway, Ireland. "

Both very evocative, Frank.

Thanks. They are very evocative to me as well. I can conjure up those moments and those trips quite fully when I engage them. The cycling photo was one of my favorites of that trip because it emphasized the road we were riding on. We had just come up the other side of that hill and were about to dscent into the valley. I think it's too hot to be in France but a misty day in County Galway seems pretty appealing right now!
