Also the place to post your urban pictures, links to sites with same, and so on. This includes small cities, towns and villages and so on - peopled places.
Here is one:

You can see the collection here: http://www.blork.org/blog/viewproject/index.html.
Note: it might take a minute or two to load with slow connections. The
page has 24 images the size of the one shown above.

Ed, did you ever post any of these on dpreview? I distinctly remember these and I don't know if I saw them there or somewhere else here. Interesting project!
{Photography.20.5}: E Lakin {elakin} Sat, 02 Aug 2003 00:52:07 CDT (HTML)
i'm sure i have more traditional skyline-type shots somewhere, but this one's the closest i can come up with at the moment.

I'd love to use these and other photos on the main page of the {Cities} forum. I've been putting up one photo per month and featuring the city in the photo. Let me know if I can use these, and, Eddie, tell me what city yours is in. If anyone else would like this great unpaid honor, let me know! Send digital photos to suzanne@utne.com, or just post here and I'll ask you for permission.

(You are free to use any of my photos for the {Cities} forum, Suzanne.)
I really like your "One view, one camera, one month. " view project, Ed. Thanks for the
link. Makes me think we need a topic for and about "time lapse" sort of things.

Hazel, I haven't put the "view project" on dpreview, but it has been posted in the cafe before (but I don't remember where). Suzanne, feel free to use any of them in Cities. :-)

Ed -- I *love* that Montreal project!!!! The effect that things like light color, source, position, etc., have on pics is fascinating to me.

Kai, Tram 28 is "famous" in that it winds its way through central Lisbon up and over the hilly "old Lisbon" neighbourhood of Alfama. It's an old historical route that is still run to this day.
Tram 28 shows up in many references (books, films, etc.) to Lisbon, and it's nice that all you have to pay is the regular fare, even though it's like taking an historical tour. Half the people on the tram are tourists and half are regular folks going about their daily business.
The route is through steep and narrow roads that wind and twist through the some of the oldest streets in Lisbon -- many of which survived the earthquake in 1755 because they are built on bedrock. It come places the road is so narrow that pedestrians on the sidewalk have to press themselves against the wall when the tram goes by.
Here's the view from inside...
And here's the view from out the window...

Somebody at my place of work was saying that Portugal is a good place for Americans to retire to.

Where were you that you were looking down on him like that?! (Never been to Philly, 'scuse the ignorance.)

I was in the Verizon towers - I think 50th floor. There used to be a law in Philadelphia that no building could be taller than Billy Penn's hat. But that was changed. I have another shot that includes the front of the building. I'll post it later when I am home again.
