Posting images in the Cafe

PS: I still get the "try our new photo experience beta" thing all the
time. I never go there.

{Photography.12.210}: annie {oceanannie} Sat, 15 Mar 2014 22:01:50 CDT (HTML)

I went once, out of curiosity, and was scared silly till I found a way to revert. Ghastly.

{Photography.12.211}: Coyote {coyote} Sun, 16 Mar 2014 00:42:26 CDT (6 lines)

Jeez louise.....

Tom, it looks like you'll have to use the method I posted earlier,
found here:

{Photography.12.212}: annie {oceanannie} Sun, 16 Mar 2014 11:43:10 CDT (HTML)

Egad, that's awful complicated! And Flickr is so difficult to deal with as far as support goes, too.

{Photography.12.213}: Tom Coleman {tomcoleman} Sun, 16 Mar 2014 23:35:56 CDT (HTML)

Consider me reverted.

Send that chap to the Flickr folk, and scare them silly so they will stop trying to 'improve' things!!! Wondrous photo - what were you two talking about???

{Photography.12.215}: Coyote {coyote} Mon, 17 Mar 2014 14:39:28 CDT (7 lines)

Yeah, he looks pretty interested in what you have to say!

I hope the reverting works out for you. Flickr users holler so much
when changes are made, I can't figure out why it keeps changing. If it
ain't broke, why fix it? Things got crazy when Yahoo bought Flickr. I
suspect it has to do with Yahoo wanting to fancy up things to increase
profits somehow. Ugh.

{Photography.12.216}: annie {oceanannie} Mon, 17 Mar 2014 15:59:39 CDT (HTML)

I am not fond of Yahoo - to put it mildly.

{Photography.12.217}: annie {oceanannie} Tue, 08 Apr 2014 17:27:11 CDT (HTML)

I guess this is where to put my query...

Does anyone know what's up with Flickr? I click on my pic and get two of them side by side or one above the other, white background, no info, just boxes to put in a comment.

I finally found the help place in Flickr where you can post words, and almost immediately got an email back saying it was a glitch and was fixed (or being fixed, I can't remember now)...and it was fine next time I went in.

Pretty orangy clouds! Glad to see you back, by the way.

{Photography.12.222}: Donald Dozier {donaldpd} Mon, 21 Apr 2014 17:13:58 CDT (1 line)

Fotonomy also seems to have made some changes since I visited there.

{Photography.12.223}: Donald Dozier {donaldpd} Wed, 23 Apr 2014 18:21:03 CDT (HTML)

IMG_2010 Super vivid

I agree with Tom. I had all that in the wrong place. Hey, I'm an old hillbilly,

{Photography.12.224}: Donald Dozier {donaldpd} Wed, 23 Apr 2014 18:23:12 CDT (2 lines)

That's super vivid. Finally made a connection. Not my fault, of

{Photography.12.225}: TJ {tj2} Wed, 23 Apr 2014 18:27:06 CDT (HTML)

I dunno. Works for me every time.

{Photography.12.226}: Donald Dozier {donaldpd} Thu, 24 Apr 2014 13:36:48 CDT (5 lines)

Went back today, Yahoo had canceled my account again for inactivity.
Got registered, now no boxes or anything open that would allow

Fotonomy hasn't answered my plea there, either.

{Photography.12.227}: Donald Dozier {donaldpd} Fri, 25 Apr 2014 09:33:45 CDT (6 lines)

This morning the little share section magically opened up in Flickr.
Maybe I'm becoming more of a member daily. It opened, but it won't
copy the link and post the picture here.

I stumbled across a way to copy the link in Fotonomy. The pictures
will then appear here.

Kept fooling with it and it surprisingly worked, to an extent. Not according to the directions, but hey . . .

Good, at LAST!!!

FYI, cafe participants--everyone who posts here should be concerned
about this. things get heated in discussions around here sometimes
and there ARE people who will do this sort of stuff to you when they
get mad.

<< {Board.9.4566}

board members--

i don't know if you're reading in the jane woodward/liz costello
topic, but if you haven't, there's a specific part of it that i
believe deserves your attention and should be placed on the agenda for

starting with {71.214-}, steve deering appears to be stating cafe
policy about malicious acts made in real life involving cafe
participants. what he's saying is that the cafe WILL NOT TAKE ANY
ACTION against participants who act out maliciously in real life
against other cafe participants. steve states that the ONLY actions
that will result are those that come about as a result of local law
enforcement action, ie, the police (or similar) must be called.

so, for instance, according to this board member, one cafe participant
may track down/call/email another participant's wife/husband, and tell
them all sorts of things in order to maliciously fuck with them in
their real life. or find a picture of their kid online and post it at
a porn site. and no action will be taken by cafe management against a
cafe participant who does something like this.

obviously, examples abound of actions that would be not technically
illegal or extremely difficult to prosecute yet would be extremely
effective in messing up someone's life (or, at the very least,
intimidating someone by insinuating that one would do this).

is this really the cafe's policy on these sort of malicious actions?

this deserves clarification. please add this item to your agenda.

do you want the cafe to be a place where you can feel free to speak
your mind without having to worry that the person you're disagreeing
with might go crazy and mess with your real, offline life AND STILL BE

please get involved. go to the {board} forum and let the board
members know your feelings about this cafe policy!

The way I get to post a picture by linking to Flickr nowadays, is to click
on the "share" symbol (the swooshing arrow), select "Embed" (rather than
"BBCode"), paste the link in the message window, and delete the last tag
(the one with "script" in it). HTML as usual.
