Black and White

It seems that from time to time, there is a resurgence of interest in black and white photography on the social networking sites, usually brought on by a participant who has just started a new basic photography class, or an amateur who has just discovered that black and white is the only "real" photography, and by churning out one desaturated digital color image after another, they have become "artistes." Having recently encountered this phenomenon elsewhere, and since I am unwilling to get involved there because contrary opinions are rarely tolerated amongst the slavering over the "gorgeous tones and textures" by the pathetically uninitiated, I hereby offer this example of a black and white conversion in Photoshop.

Let the slavering begin.
