I can see how that woould or could be so in much of the country, given that gentile
England has long since lost the megafauna that would be most dependent on larger
tracts of more wild land.

In agricultural zones, I know one of the big issues on England has been the removal
of long established and often vital hedgerows, as more modern farming techniques
and machinery ratchet up the consolidation of smaller fields.
