Here is an old tractor rusting away in our town. Can anyone identify
the breed?

The car looks like a '41 Chevy. Can't tell if the tractor is Ford,
Farmall or Massey-Ferguson.

Can you enlarge the tractor picture from your original? I think the
name is on the front.

I had to take my table saw to a place down in Mesa in the Valley this morning for repairs. It was a treasure trove of ancient power tools...

This old DeWalt radial arm saw reminds me of my high school woodshop in the fifties.

They just don't make stuff this solid anymore. No plastic here...

I had a root canal done on my #9 tooth this past Wednesday. Dentistry has come a long way since days of yore. This photo is of a dentist chair in Castle Dome Ghost Town.

What a blessing, Annie! I wholly believe in the power of juju.

Paddy, your photo struck fear in my heart. You certainly captured the
essence of the scenario. <shudder>

I’m away from home, spending the winter as a snowbird in southern
Arizona. I went to a root canal specialist who had some juju too.
Of course, I had sipped on some Yukon Jack for a few days before I
could get in to see him; another worthy juju.

He used a microscope to find and drill down through a ten year old
crown, into the roots, and clear them out before filling and sealing
the canals. It was amazing to watch.

The only time it hurt was when I had to pay up; no dental
insurance. $1,409. So, I’m still sipping on some Yukon Jack until
the check clears the bank and the financial pain subsides.

My sweet pup Shaddy had some oral surgery about a month before we
left home. So, we are able to commiserate with each other.

OOH! OOH! I have dentist stories!

When I went in the Air Force, one of the first things I had to do was
have a dental exam. My teeth had always been good, so I wasn't
worried. I was 21 years old, and I had four little minor cavities, one
on each of the four main chompers. No sweat.

About two years later the X-rays on my yearly exam showed something,
and the dentist decided that I needed a root canal. He was a young
guy, probably a Capt. or something. (I think that doctors came in at a
higher rank than your average napalm bomber pilot.)

He drilled, he dug, he worked very hard. He told me I had to come
back. Same thing the next time. Very difficult case, I guess, two
visits for one root canal, and you can't get it all.

On my third visit for the same operation, we were interrupted by some
visitors who came to see him. They stood in the doorway for a while
and exchanged pleasantries, and then he brought the older gentleman in
civvies over and introduced him as his father, a dentist in Houston.
He then pulled my X-rays off the wall and was discussing them with
dad.

Now, all this time I am in the chair with my my mouth propped open
and wishing I was at the Airman's Club drinking beer.

Finally, as he's beaming with pride he says to dad: "How would you
have done this?"

Dad says: "I'd have pulled it."

After dad is gone he tells me he saved the tooth and pulling it would
have been a mistake, since my young jaw would have reacted adversely
to the gap. Then he says that would have cost me maybe $1,000 as a
civilian.

30 years later I had another root canal. It took ½ hour, and I had
insurance. We don't remember what my cost was, but I'm thinking less
than $200.
