Y'all might enjoy this. It's a review of the Volt by Gene Weingarten, a humor and sometimes feature writer for the Washington Post. "http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp- dyn/content/article/2011/01/21/AR2011012105347.html? nav=hcmodule&sid=ST2011012707377"

I loved the meeting with the former CIA director in the same parking garage where Bob Woodward used to meet Deep Throat.

"http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AjW05jxVOpU" I wouldn't mind having this little monster. Strip all the decals off of it and embarrass everyone else on the street, all while making little noise, and never burning a drop of gas.

He's got a lot of info on www.plasmaboyracing.com I'm inspired to go build my own little electric monster - though far too broke to do it.

I finally drove the Volt for real. Not just on a closed course, but in the city and on the highway over the course of a day. I am impressed. My editor, who thought little of it prior to the event, did the same trip and wrote about it: "http://www.wheels.ca/article/798372" I'm writing mine up today ...

"Car of the year", eh? Seems promising. I think the fact that missing a plug-in opportunity won't leave you stranded may make this the more desirable "plug-in" hybrid for most interested buyers.
{Wheels.10.131}: Jil {rabbit} Fri, 24 Jun 2011 14:56:52 CDT (5 lines)
I agree. When he says "car of the year," it's because all the writers are asked to name the best and worst cars they drove all year for the Christmas editions.

Speaking of alternative fuels(to trad. gasoline), the American Le Mans Series announced that the 2013 Le Mans Prototype Challenge (LMPC) class cars (it's a spec. racing class) will be running with engines fueled by natural gas if everything goes as planned.
