Martin has a point in the sense that we didn't specifically ask people not to post giant
files. And it can't hurt to add a sentence.

But that will be adding a sentence to cover something that hasn't been a problem yet
because of common sense and basic netiquette,

And that is that you don't place huge images (or whatever) on pages that people
download without advance warning (generally including a notice of the filesize). The
only ways to do that here are to post a link to the offsite image, without embedding it,
or to embed the offsite image in a hidden post, with a description and filesize warning
in the previous unhidden post. (Hidden posts like that also mean people only open/
download one post, and likely one image, at a time.)

I'd be happy to give you the ability to attach posts, Martin, if you can acknowledge
you understand/appreciate the thinking in the previous paragraph and you meet the
other criteria I explain to folks - that you are and will be a participant in the forum
(which includes reading and responding beyond posting your own images).

No need for any problems here.

Hang around. Consider yourself welcome. Assume we'd love to see some of your
ballooning images. Participate in the life of the forum for a bit. During that time,
embed a few user-friendly images (which can be placed on all sorts of free spaces).
And then, as an active member of the forum's community, and with the ability to
attach files directly, post plenty of web-friendly versions of your better images
without worrying about how much server space you have elsewhere.

I also recommend that such images (offisite and attached) be placed in a new topic,
and that we freeze or delete this one after we've seen this discussion through.
