"""Why not just screen in the porch"""

That may be the next step.

harmful ones and don't help with mosquitoes or other pests. Plus,
what fun can it be to sit on a porch in the weird blue glow of the
zapper and listen to bugs dying?"""

I have found that it does a great job on mosquitoes. AMOF, the
primary reason my wife suggested I install the Zapper. She worries
about west nile and other illness (we have Grandbabies who ofter rock
on the porch with Papa)

Call me weird but I find the "blue glow" rather serene, so long as
you don't stare at it.

I think Bats are Natures great Bug Zappers!

I wonder if Bats enjoy toasty treats?
