I’ve not seen the bats myself, at least at this location which
involves about a mile walk along an uneven closed asphalt road, up and
down through a conifer forest timed to arrive a bit before dusk when
the swarm of bats take to the air. And then you have to retrace your
steps in the dark with a handy flashlight to find your way.

I’ve seen a few isolated bats near dark feeding on flying insects at
the fresh water Capitol Lake. Once it gets dark, you can’t see them,
but you can hear their echo location chirps as they fly about.
