{Photography.35.1791}: Steve Lacey {masked} Sat, 08 Sep 2012 16:49:44 CDT (19 lines)
I've uploaded another batch of photos from this summer in the same FB folder as my Ireland selection. These are scenes from the Isle of Man. After our second trip there, this little place has become our favourite place in the British Isles. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151025634161604.424574.591236603&type=1&l=ab9becbbd0 By the way, someone asked me to cull a few favourites to post here in this topic. I'd find that extremely difficult to do. I shot over 1500 pictures in 5 weeks ending August 16. It's taken me this long to narrow them down to the 150 or so that are in the FB album, and I'm still not done. There's still a batch from IOM and some from southern England to wade through. So cutting down even further for the purpose of this location would be really hard for me! My apologies for this. If you don't want to zip over to Facebook to see "what I did on my summer holidays," that's understandable, and I got no reason to feel slighted. If you do wanna look, that's cool also. Comments and advice always appreciated.

I think I've finally finished loading pictures into the Facebook album. There's stuff from Ireland, Isle of Man, England, and even one of Greenland in there. If you wanna look-- http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151025634161604.424574.591236603&type=1&l=ab9becbbd0 Cross-posted to Nook: The Picture Exchange. I always back up all my pictures. All of them. They're on memory sticks, CDRs, and the external hard drive. Many are printed and in old-fashioned albums, too. My brother's a railroad nut so pictures of trains and associated phenomena make a good present for him; my dad's always interested in IOM pix since he was there during WWII. And pictures in your hand always seem more meaningful than pictures on your screen. And hard-copy albums are much more likely to be picked up and examined than files buried somewhere in a computer's memory.

Try this link, Steve, it's to the Tennessee Central Railway Museum. There may be something of interest. http://www.tcry.org/

Many say just plain nut, but yes, I like choo choo trains. I've got some pictures I made at another museum where we rode behind a steam engine. I also have some of an old railroad bridge across the Tennessee at New Johnsonville, but haven't been able to locate them. Yoour post jarred my feeble memory.

My paternal grandad was an engine driver (not an "engineer," he would tell you) so that's perhaps where my brother got his fascination with trains. My brother is (or was) president of a group in Winnipeg called Transport 3000, whose objective is to restore some of the passenger services--even if only on a tourist basis--that used to ply the rails of western Canada. (He's also heavily involved in the Winnipeg Railway Museum. If you go to <http://www.wpgrailwaymuseum.com/> and click on the "membership" link, you'll see him in the first photo that appears--the guy in the center, with the dark stripy sweater and the monk's tonsure instead of a full head of hair.)

Thanks, Terry. One's been calling my name for the past several days and it appears it will soon change its address to mine.

I remember my first digital camera. I was a Nikon 990; ancient by today's standards, but a miracle for me; I could actually "develop" it using an early version of Paint Shop Pro! This was the start of some'um big!

I still know not what I do, nor how, but this booger is interesting.

I recently went sailing with a friend, helping him bring his sailboat home from Port Townsend, WA to Budd Inlet; the lower toe of Puget Sound in Washington State. Here is a link to the first state of our voyage from Port Townsend to Port Gamble using text and photos uploaded to Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.457957950915944.113345.100001052292043&type=1&l=17a44f1cf3 Paddy

Lots of great shots in that set. For whatever reason, I like the shadows on the water the best. A creative shot that turned out really well!

Coyote, that is my nephew and me. He was fishing and the twilight was coming on. I like that one, too.
But.
I like all of them ;-)
