Looks like a beautiful and rather abstract photo - I see a horse and man on the road and the trees ...and I've not had even one drop of wine.

By the way, that link at the top takes us back years, not to this pic!!....it should be updated - took me forever to figure out I was back in 2010 (no, I never thought to look at the dates till I was into it 15 minutes).

Marcus, at first I thought it was a reflection of trees, as seen in a
puddle. After a second look, my guess is a chunk of plaster or tree bark.

so we have old bricks or stone, trees in a puddle, plaster or tree bark... all wrong but there is plaster on brick and paint - and the 'trees' are mycellium / hyphae of the true dry rot fungus - Serpula Lacrimans

Here is some of the 'fruiting body' - the fleshy mushroom textured bit with the spores coming from the reddy / brown area - enough to cover the floor of the rooom this was found in.

indeed, annie, there is a gruesome beauty about the thing.

coyote, I've seen some serious disasters with dry rot. If it's not dealt with it can eat whole buildings.

off topic, slightly, this is the other side of the same room with a crack caused by corrosion of steel lifting the building above the steel. So the crack you see does not have the lower bit settling doun but the upper bit of the crack rising. The oxide of iron molecule is 10x the volume of non-rusted iron, (Fe) So if a 1" bar rusts fully it will be 10" thick. It's 'irresistible' and either the local material deforms and gets crushed or the material gets pushed out of the way - like this...
