The "ramp function" works best when you occupy the lane next to the
ramp which is usually the right lane and never, in my experience, the
middle lane.

If you are in the way, it doesn't matter what lane you are in, or what
speed you are traveling, and it qualifies you for the "jerk" tile as
much as anything else would.  With such creative thinking as you are
exhibiting, the right lane is definitely safer, though you might want
to consider the paved shoulder with the ditch as an escape lane.  And
even then keep your eyes peeled for the "jerks" that might be engaged
in a mowing operation.
