Here's one. I know what it shows--I just wanna know what I'm seeing. I took this shot on the edge of a rapidly-thawing lake. The ice is candling and has moved away from the shore. Under the ice you can see more ice. What looks like smoke in this picture seems to be emanating from some of the under-the-surface ice. The plume follows a trail made by an ATV or something on the surface ice. You can see the plume breaks up--there 's more than one trail and each plume seems to follow a trail. Anybody got any idea what's causing this effect?
