Mystery Photo

I got the following e-mail and photo from William {bolus}, and I thought a Mystery Photo topic sounded like a good idea.

So...this is the place to post a mystery photo, and ask folks to guess where it is, or what it is, etc.

Starting with William's...

I took the attached digital snap back in May. I think it might make an interesting Mystery Photo, where Forum members could try to guess where I took it, maybe Twenty Questions style, or suggest a title for it. "Gypsy Moths, Pupal Stage" is the best I've come up with. (I'm not telling you in case you want to play along.)

I imagine that's a museum somewhere.

It isn't the new branch of the National Air and Space Museum, is it?

Kai, as a matter of fact, it is! Well, this photo wasn't much of a
mystery, was it? I got to see the place back in May, when finish
construction was going on (I imagine it still is), but the curators
were already moving in some pieces of the collection. To protect them
from dust and debris, they wrapped these planes, hung by cables from
the ceiling, in plastic. The muting of the colors by the plastic, the
odd angles of the planes (the one right of center is upside down),
and the ambient light gave a rather spooky effect. Not much to
composing this--I just walked around the floor until I found a view
of a good grouping.

Cool.

I'm looking forward to checking it out some time this winter.

Well...as a DG-area person who loves the Air and Space Museum, I might not have been typical on that one. Probably should have waited for a few other folks to throw out a guess.

Still a great idea for a topic

It is! I'll have to search my pics for tricky ones.

Alright, guess what this is. Let me know if you want a hint.

I can't get farther than part of a mammal! :-)

Kinda looks like horsehair?

{Photography.42.9}: Diane Hamilton {dianeh} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 19:09:40 CST (1 line)

Part of a mammal. Not a horse. And not the mammal's butt.

{Photography.42.10}: Sandra Oliva {latina} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 19:11:56 CST (1 line)

with flies! hmmmm the mammal's belly with flies?

--------

{Photography.42.11}: Diane Hamilton {dianeh} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 19:24:19 CST (1 line)

Not the belly.

{Photography.42.12}: Rich Mason {richpix} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 20:02:28 CST (1 line)

Cocker spaniel, or similar canine?

--------

{Photography.42.13}: Diane Hamilton {dianeh} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 20:15:58 CST (1 line)

Not a canine.

--------

{Photography.42.14}: Mike Harvey {mikeharvey} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 22:08:45 CST (HTML)

A goat's front right quarter?

--------

{Photography.42.15}: Diane Hamilton {dianeh} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 22:21:43 CST (1 line)

much bigger than a goat.

--------

{Photography.42.16}: Mike Harvey {mikeharvey} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 22:28:26 CST (HTML)

but is it the front right quarter?

--------

{Photography.42.17}: Diane Hamilton {dianeh} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 22:34:19 CST (1 line)

A quarter is a leg?

--------

{Photography.42.18}: Diane Hamilton {dianeh} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 22:36:23 CST (2 lines)

If a quarter is a leg - than, yes, it is part of a front leg but I
believe it is the left leg not the right.

{Photography.42.19}: Mike Harvey {mikeharvey} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 22:39:47 CST (HTML)

Shoulder - that's the term I was looking for: shoulder.

No? It's not the front right shoulder?

--------

{Photography.42.20}: Suzanne Griffith {sggriffith} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 22:48:31 CST (1 line)

moo cow? ;-)

{Photography.42.21}: Diane Hamilton {dianeh} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 22:51:12 CST (5 lines)

Nope!

Nope!

I took the picture at the zoo if that helps.

--------

{Photography.42.22}: Kai Hagen {kai} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 22:56:58 CST (HTML)

Yes and no.

Good to know....but that makes for so many more possibilities!

Polar bear?

--------

{Photography.42.23}: Diane Hamilton {dianeh} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 23:11:55 CST (1 line)

Nope!

--------

{Photography.42.24}: Mike Harvey {mikeharvey} Sat, 22 Nov 2003 23:19:15 CST (HTML)
