This is now the home of what used to be known as Café Utne, the pioneering online community started in 1995 by Utne Magazine and winner of the 2000 Webby Award for Best Community Site.
Recently, the nonprofit Utne Institute, which has owned the Café since early 2004, decided to shift its mission and get out of online community operations. A group of longtime members of this community, including former managers and volunteer forum hosts, has formed a new nonprofit organization called The New Café. This new organization has taken over ownership of the Café and its associated partner communities to provide them with a secure home for the future.
We're excited about this move and look forward to working together with you to take the Café into the future.
